Hi all, looking for some advice. I have been offered a job very near the Central Middlesex Hospital, Park Royal, north west London. I currently live somewhere completely unsuitable for that commute and would need to move.

Which areas would be pleasant and safe to live and where should I avoid please? I don't drive, need public transport I would also need to get into central London quite frequently so I would prefer not to be too far outside London. I'm starting to look at places online, around Ealing and Acton but I have no idea what they are like. Is there anywhere I should avoid?

Happy to look at other areas too so long as it's a reasonably easy commute and preferably on the tube. Thanks.

Dollis Hill. We had 10 happy years there. There's a bus that goes to the hospital, or it's a 15-min drive.

You are also 20 mins away from Bond Street on the Jubilee line, and 15-30 mins on the bus to Kensal Rise, Queens Park and Notting Hill.

What’s your budget, how big a property does it need to get you, are you renting or buying?

I will need an en-suite room in a professional house share.

Previous poster’s suggestion of Dollis Hill isn’t a bad shout, it’s a nice area and well connected to the hospital transport wise though you’ll be looking at around the £1,100+ mark for an en-suite room or small studio. I have friends in Harlesden and really like the area, although it’s loud and busy and can take some getting used to. I’d avoid the Park Royal and North Acton areas, they’re not unsafe just a bit of a nothingness.
