Insane cost for 2 bathroom refits?

In home counties. Just been quoted £28k for ripping out and refitting one large bathroom with one large walk in shower and freestanding bath. Second is a shower room. Minimal tiling as having panelling so just floor/showers. Spec is medium I would say not premium. Toilets are being moved but actually in better place to align with soil pipes. This price is insane right?

Just finding the whole process hard work ... this quote took 6 weeks to arrive...sigh.

Ours was 10k and included some work to floor joists, pulling down and replacing ceiling, replace full suite, move some sanitary ware around, electrics, lighting, replastering, tiling, flooring, painting and so on. Mid range products, we picked and he purchased. They did an incredible job and i was expecting it to cost more. South Wales.

I was quoted £12,000 for a small en-suite! I just wouldn’t be confident doing a design myself and would be worried if I bought items myself in case they didn’t fit and then couldn’t return them. So we’re just living with a tatty ensuite.

We’ve had a shower room and bathroom redone in past two years. They cost £20k altogether for everything. £28k seems excessive.
