A company that will design your space and then do it for you including any building work or carpentry etc. Including flooring, painting, electrical, making good any dodgy doors or blown window panes, right up to furniture and lighting etc. Does this type of company exist?

Yes we used one for our new kitchen. She charged 20% on top of the tradesmen bills as her cut. She designed it, ordered it, got all the tradesmen in (carpenter, electrician, flooring, windows and decorator) and project managed the build. She also does other rooms apart from kitchens.

Parkmybentley · 08/07/2024 13:40

Ooh amazing. How did you find her? What search terms or what type of business?

I found her searching for German kitchens. She’s near Cardiff if your anywhere around here?

internationaldebates · 08/07/2024 14:27

I used someone who does this, but not for this iyswim. They were lovely and super efficient. I was delighted with what they did for me (some advice and curtains).

I sent you a PM of the one we used.

Whataretalkingabout · 08/07/2024 15:57

Yes of course this exists and is cost effective and gives you peace of mind.
It's called an architect!

Parkmybentley · 08/07/2024 17:59

It's not an architect I'm after. It's someone who can do the interior design and all the niggly bits. To take my house from dated, tired and worn down to wow look at this room!

It's the niggly bits that are killing me slowly. I have tried but I simply just don't have the time or energy to do it all. Trying to find and book individual trades is a big part of the nightmare as well. Just someone to co ordinate all of that and give peace of mind that the work will be done well and finished!! No weird gaps in the skirting or missing thresholds for flooring etc.

Any reputable interior designer should be offering this as part of their "project management" package.

Have a look at Houzz and Instagram and look for those that match your style and look at the services they offer.

Friends have had some good success with Topology. We just needed the furniture part so went with an independent interior designer who would just give us a shopping list.

Parkmybentley · 08/07/2024 19:34

Ahh so it's an interior designer with project management that I need?

Thanks everyone for replying!

@Crazymadchickenlady I'm near Cardiff and looking for this exact service would you please send me the details of the person you used. Tia

AlohaRose · 09/07/2024 10:07

Whereabouts are you based? I know someone lovely in Bournemouth who covers a large area in the south west who does exactly what you are looking for. We just used her for advice and mood boards when we moved house but she does everything from that up to the full project management service which you want.

ANH89 · 09/07/2024 10:26

@Crazymadchickenlady would really appreciate the details too, looking to buy in Cardiff and wondering the same. Thank you!

wasthesummerof69 · 09/07/2024 10:32

I can recommend someone in SW London if any use?

Subfusc · 09/07/2024 10:39

I can absolutely get wanting a project manager to supervise the finish of electrics etc, but don’t you want your house to reflect your own taste? I find interior designed rooms look very samey.

Whataretalkingabout · 09/07/2024 16:59

Don't be ridiculous, @Subfusc . The designer is guided by your very own personal choices. You can have a hand in as much or as little as you care (or have availability) to have.

We chatted for 30 minutes about our requirements and then adjusted / approved and rejected ideas as we went along. Have also had a color consultant come in to start the process and we couldn't have been happier.

It definitely does look more put together than a lot of homes where stuff accumulates over time but it still very much feels like us because we went through plenty of options and approved every piece of furniture we got.

Incakewetrust · 09/07/2024 23:27

I need someone to do this for my house! Watching with interest

LumiB · 09/07/2024 23:32

I had an interior designer redesign sime.odmmy rooms. I found ot cost effective in terms.od getting the look I wanted without trying to do it myself and messing it up.

She also could get the.trades in to do the work but I had a tight budget so I got my own in.

I also approved the ideas and pushed back on some furniture choices that I felt were too expensive and alternatives were found thay worked just as well.

Midlands (not Bham!) so not many firms around - a couple in Nottingham. Excited though - working towards remortgage early 2025 and getting quotes

I can recommend Beam Interiors based in the Peaks but would do the Midlands: beaminteriors.co.uk

Good luck with your project!

Contact spartakus Group Ltd for any building works. They are fantastic

You need to make sure that the interior designer matches your taste but I can recommend this one in London. She will supervise everything and regularly does whole houses.
