our priorities are different

i'ma sahm. i'm happy to compromise on the property itself to get the best location (i don't want to be too rural)

dh works - pretty long hours. he wants the nicest house we can find. inevitably these are in (or outside) villages

arrrrgh

we've made one offer in 17 months

Hmmmm..it's a problem. At least while you're hesitating property prices are falling...

I wouldn't buy right now tbh, wait another year and pick up a bargain.

How do you house-hunt? Do you both search? When DH and I move house I always do the leg work and go and see houses, then I do a short list for both of us to see. That way whatever house we end up with is acceptable to me and dh doesn't waste time seeing no-hopers.

bran we haven'tg even got that far

we have email feeds set up so we both see what's on the market

Tutter, that's a really difficult one. The only thing I can think of is that you both sit down and work out what you both want out of the new place:

What trips do you both do regularly? How often? How do you use the house? That's the practical stuff, but the emotional stuff people expect out of a house is more difficult to reconcile.

If you can't decide yet maybe renting is the right option? The market isn't going to increase for a while, so you're not missing the boat.
