We are looking at getting a mortgage which is £2,100 a month. Our take home is £7,000 a month. No kids or plans for them.

Assuming you don’t have lavish, jet set lifestyles, that’s more than fine.

I'd say totally manageable if you have the usual sort of outgoings and bills.

We have a slightly bigger household income and I wouldn’t be happy with a mortgage that big however, we do enjoy a lot of holidays and live in a part of the country where housing is fairly cheap
We did buy young and built equity so have been lucky enough to get good rates with max deposits and have fairly small mortgage payments so maybe I’m just spoilt.

Where are in London that fairly standard. Rent on a two bed flat is 2400 around here.

We’re in London and our mortgage is about £2.7k with about £8k income? So not dissimilar. We feel fine and we have 4 days of childcare too. Will overpay mortgage once nursery fees are gone. 🤞🏼 I was really nervous before taking the mortgage out! Also consider if ur salary is expected to go up or down. My salary will be fairly static now, but DH’s will go up.
