Waiting for mortgage to be 'accepted'

Been having a few issues, wasn't able to get new mortgage with our current lender due to husband being CIS employed
Their MIP was way lower than what we were getting online, went through whole mortgahe process with them and still couldn't borrow What we needed

Went to a mortgage broker, who gave us a much higher MIP with a different lender and has gone through whole mortgage application process with us , he said he has no reason so think it won't be OK and has told us how much he thinks we can borrow

I've just had another phone call from the mortgage broker company and they have said

'Application has been sent of. Should hear by a few days, will then be passed to underwriter ' (I know this is normal process )

She then said 'I should be able to confirm if the offer has been accepted '

Am I looking to far into this, I'm now worrying it's all going to go completely wrong again after having such a stressful time 🤦‍♀️

Would love some positive stories/ experiences with this

Thank you

Hold your nerve. All offers have to go through the underwriter, it’s just you don’t always get told this is the case. If it has all stacked up so far and the valuation was ok you’ll likely be fine

@Greaterorlesser thank you for your reply, I always tend to jump to conclusions and worry!

So sorry it’s been a stressful situation for you op!

I’m in a similar situation. DH is CIS employed and I was nervous about it as I’d read some lenders see CIS as too risky. So we went to a lender who is ok with CIS. All went smoothly, and have just had a mortgage offer. Phew!

I imagine the broker would’ve said if there was likely to be an issue. Fingers crossed it goes your way!

@SheSlays thank you for your response!

So pleased things worked out for you!

House moving really is one of the most stressful experiences 🤣🤦‍♀️

I hear you OP! Moving house is super stressful.

And despite me being a fully fledged adult of 47, things like mortgage applications and dealing with solicitors never fails to leave me feeling like a child who’s done something wrong and is about to get found out.. 😂

Hope you get it all sorted soon 😊

It's fine. Sometimes it can take a couple of goes to find a bank to accept you.

I got rejected by Nationwide very recently, but then Skipton accepted me no bother!!

Umbrella2012xx · 25/06/2024 18:30

@zingally thank you for your reply! Glad you got there in the end

still waiting to hear back , feel physically sick with anxiety and worry!!

They contacted me the other day saying 'the lender has done all their checks they just need to some documents' which were all provided. So now it's a waiting game again, unsure what they meany by 'they've done all their checks'

I definitely worry and look into things to much, but I just feel SO stressed about it all

Has your MB said when they should know?

Umbrella2012xx · 28/06/2024 12:55

@AmelieTaylor they originally told me it would be today! I know it's only coming upto 1pm and I could still heard from the, but i'm still stressed 😖

Has the lender done the valuation on the property yet? I always take that as a good sign, I don't think they'd bother if the application wasn't OK (just my thoughts, as someone who's applied for several mortgages recently..)

Umbrella2012xx · 28/06/2024 13:03

@Sallysoup i'm unsure if the valuation has been done, not i'm even more concerned 😥how could I find this information out? Would the EA who are (hopefully) selling the house know this?

sorry posting AGAIN-

just had to broker email me- he has only just sent of the documents I sent him that were requested

From what I can tell (i think and hope) we've passed the 'initial checks' and now it's going to the under writer (i think they are the ones who asked for the documents as they informed me once it gets to the underwriter they may request further documents) the was simply a letter from my DH's boss confirming he will stay employed as he is CIS

No stop worrying It’s all good. The valuation would have been done as well as credit checks etc, because that’s all needed to make sure the property is worth lending on. Hold your nerve

Umbrella2012xx · 28/06/2024 19:44

@Greaterorlesser thank you for your reply! I'm trying to stay calm, I'm just an over worry all the time!

Trust on this one. The broker would have been in contact with the mortgage provider. It wouldn’t have been put to the underwriter if there was something that didn’t fit the criteria. Have a good weekend

@Greaterorlesser thank you for your positive outlook on it!
