Buying a house with a LISA

Inspired by another thread I’ve just seen with people discussing how long the process took for them.
This is probably a stupid question, but we’re first time buyers so I’m not sure.

We can’t access our LISA until august, as it needs to be open one year before you can use it. My query is, would we be able to make an offer on a house now, even when we can’t get access to the money until August? Probably not but worth an ask!

I don’t see why not - as you won’t actually need the money until you exchange/complete anyway?

So long as you make it clear when you make your offer that you can't complete before August that could be OK. Are all your savings in the LISA or do you have some more accessible? If it's all tied up you won't be able to exchange contracts till August and that's a bit less OK.
