First time buyers, looking at a house with solar panels.

They are apparently owned outright, that is all we know at present.

Anything we should be aware of and / or asking questions about please?

Whether they are registered with FIT or SEG to get paid for expiry to the grid.

If they are owned outright do they get paid for export? If so, is the vendor signing that over to you?

When were they installed? Inverters don't last forever. And panels degrade over time as well.

Other than that I'd be interested to know how much they typically generate and what impact that has on bills.

The above plus make sure your surveyor is fully checking the roof and the panels installation. Look for problems caused by poor or inappropriate fitting and location. Don't just assume it was done to regs spec, check ! There have been problems with shoddy work that won't be evident to you.
