Will I regret coloured tiles?

Conventional wisdom is that bathroom tiles should be neutral and colour should come from paint or accessories that are easier and cheaper to change. Coloured tiles will date.

I understand this.

But if I choose coloured tiles that I love for the bathroom walls, what are the chances I'll regret it in a few years? Will I definitely get sick of them?

I'm not bothered about resale as we plan to live in the house we just bought for at least the next 15-20 years. (I know you can never be sure about the future but that's the plan).

Or am I crazy haha (picture of them from some tile shop website). They are quite dark.

Gorgeous tiles :) I used similar on one wall (the wall that faced the door) and matte white large reticulated tiles on the other 3 walls so the blue popped as a feature. The reticulated tiles are in the shower so easy to squeegee dry after showering and were lots cheaper than feature tiles on all 4 walls. I tiled all the way to the ceiling without cornices- just square look so streamlined.

@Puffinshop I love them
I always tell clients to go wit, it if they really like something just don't follow a trend be an everyone else is doing it, they don't live there you do.
I was told my bright blue rubber floor in the bathroom was 'too much' it's not and 10yrs later still looks fab.

I’d do it. They are lovely. When we did the main bathroom we had full tiling in these bronze and copper ones, and the shower encolosure down in some hand made silver rustic tiles, which take on the colour of the bronze. It’s been about 5 years and I still love it. Can’t imagine it will date as it was never in fashion as such.

my friend went for plain white, when as much as it’s lovely and clean looking, it is very plain and clinical looking.

Also sorry don’t do white grout, you can get grout pretty much the same colour. We went for a dark charcoal colour on our grout, which blends in totally and on the silver ones, we had silver grout used.

We went with large blue tiles. Similar sort of thing. They will date, but I really like them. Larger tiles as less grout to clean. Wish I'd done the whole room in them - small shower room. Have white-is tiles on 2 walls, blue on shower wall and painted wall by window.

The painted wall gets mould.

Anyway we can redo it in 10/15 years or will have sold and they will be someone else's problem.

We have plain white in the family bathroom, it's very stark looking, a little Romanian prison cell....

We went to Topps Tiles and got Attingham Seagrass (green) for our bathroom when we tiled it 8 years ago - just checked, and they are still selling them.

Green is definitely more popular now than it was, but I have always loved them!

We went with marble tiles throughout the bathroom, 12 years and still looks great. Pricey but timeless imho.

I'm going to do something like this in my bathroom, I couldn't care less what is on trend or what future owners may think, I'm going to decorate how I want it.

I wanta rainforest bathroom.
