the title of the thread says it all really. Just decorated the 'study/snug' and carpet arrives Thurs. Need a sofa bed, mustn't be wider than 175cm and not cost a fortune, since the doorhandles that dh has picked cost a jaw dropping £24 a door and we have 12 doors! ANy ideas anyone please?

We bought one for our spare room a couple of years ago from Sofa Workshop - check website. Thay had loads of designs and colours. It was reasonable, is really comfy to sit on and, reportedly, not bad as a bed, according to friends who've slept on it. Worth a look!

We got ours from Next, about £500 and it's been great. I've not slept on it but all the guests who have said it was comfortable and as a sofa it's lovely.

ikea - ektorp. friends of ours who stay with us bought one for their own house so must have been comfy, quite cheap too and washable covers

Don't get the Dizzy Sofabed from JL! My Mum has one and it's really uncomfortable

yogabird · 01/04/2008 20:26

thanks! been browsing and saw this sofa bed M & S does anyone have one or ever slept on one? It is much cheaper than Ektorp believe it or not with free delivery - must it be crap or can we get back on budget?

Can't comment on the M&S one, but I've been using the Ikea Ektorp one nightly for a month now and it's really comfortable. I opted for the plain natural covers as they were cheapest. Love the fact that mattress folds into base so people using the sofa during the day are not sitting on my actual bed.

Blandmum · 01/04/2008 20:42

we also have an Ikea one, which is equally good as a sofa and a bed

oregonianabroad · 01/04/2008 20:45

we have the IKEA one too. Have guests regularly, they all comment on how comfortable it is.

yogabird - I too am on the search for a decent sofa bed. It needs to be big and sturdy for when my 6ft 7 Dad stays. Will watch this thread. (Lovely slumberdown ones but £££s)

yogabird · 01/04/2008 20:57

I just went back to Ikea website after these recommendations and the Ektorp is too wide at 200cm - did sound good though, thanks! Any other ideas anyone?

I have been looking at the Sofa Sofa ones, has anyone got one from there? We have the Turin sofa and its very comfy and has lasted well.

we have the Como - not particularly pretty to look at but VERY comfortable with slatted base and a normal thickness sprung mattress. Also it's normal bed height so MIL doesn't do her back in sleeping so low!
