Double Glazing

What effect, if any, does double glazing have on house value? We need to have some some windows renewed (modern house so no issues about 'character' etc) and will definitely go ahead with those but I'm idly wondering whether we should get all the windows changed. I'm guessing DG makes a house more sellable but do you ever get any of your money back?

If the others are in decent enough nick and the new ones match the old ones, it won't make any odds.

If your windows obviously need replacing it might make people less likely to want to buy if they have to factor in another £10k or so to get the work done!

The new windows will certainly match the old ones. I discovered today that our neighbours had their windows replaced last summer but I'd never noticed, as they look just like ours! I knocked on their door this evening (we do know them quite well in case you think I'm a cheeky mare!! ) and asked to have a peek and I must say, the new windows make a considerable difference to appearances indoors, too.

We're not actually thinking of selling in the near future, but after another neighbour spent silly amounts of money on a kitchen which they'll never get back now they're divorcing I'm a bit wary of throwing away money.

Oh well, we've just been to sign away a rather large sum on money for new windows. It's rather but I think we're doing the right thing. I'm also hoping better fitting windows will prevent arachnids breaking-and-entering our house!
