Small pointing job - can I do it myself?

I've got a weed growing in my brickwork, and it's causing a damp patch on the inside wall. I'm guessing the roots have taking hold quite happily because the pointing had gaps enough for it to grow?

I've sprayed it with weed killer, worried about pulling on it and causing more damage with the roots.

Is it easy enough to patch up a section of pointing myself? I don't think the job is big enough to interest any brickies tbh, and I'm happy to give it a go.

Thanks.

I would - I’d pull the root out first though and then make sure you get the mortar in to fill the gap

That's great, thank you! Helps to know it's not too overwhelming a job to do. I'll take a look at the video.
