Buying used Water softener

Is buying a used one (Harvey h3) a good idea? It's a third of the price...about 4 years old. Has anyone done this?

I think it's a non electric one - these will last for years, so yes, go for it.
I think Harvey ones are a copy of Kinetico, we inherited one with the house and were told mechanical ones are the bees knees as they go on forever.
