We were hoping to finally get our house insulated using the eco4 government scheme. I contacted two companies and both told me we weren't eligible because the scheme takes a 'whole house' approach and we would have to also replace our boiler. Our boiler is 10 years old, so I definitely wouldn't mind a new one. But then they said that because our boiler is a condensing boiler, it is considered an efficient boiler and thus we're not eligible for the scheme. Condensing boilers became the mandatory boiler in the early 2000s, which means the majority of houses with a gas boiler will have a condensing one. Unless of course it's over 20 years old. Is there no other option for us under this or another scheme? I was really hopeful we could get our house a little warmer. And I almost regret now that we got that boiler back then (not really of course, it has served us well so far).
