Could I fit an ensuite in here?

I'm still house hunting and being the fussy moo that I am I can't find anything that's quite right. Looking at this floorplan, do you think it would be possible to add an ensuite shower room? I've included pictures of the bathroom and bed1, so that you can see the slope of the ceiling. It's a semi and the external wall is to the left as you look at the floorplan (next to stairs / bed 3).

I know I could put it in Bed 1 but would that make bedroom 1 too small to be a comfortable double (currently have a King size bed...)

So which bedroom.woild the ensuite be attached to?

TizerorFizz · 18/03/2024 18:27

Bedroom 1? Adjacent to bathroom because plumbing and water is there already. Obviously bedroom will have a 1.2m chunk out of it.

Scampuss · 18/03/2024 18:33

I don't think any of those bedrooms are big enough to fit an en-suite. Plumbing-wise, bedroom 1 is the obvious location, but it will turn a decent sized double into a small double.

Mumdiva99 · 18/03/2024 18:39

Bedroom 1 is already small for a double. (Once you have furniture there won't be much extra space).

No - this house isn't big enough for an ensuite unless you can go up.

I hate en suites.
Better to have two bathrooms accessible to the whole house

I agree with you. Don’t know why housebuilders don’t do 2 x bathrooms.

Sweedey · 18/03/2024 19:58

I really wouldn't think so, no.

And personal opinion- but if you did squeeze one in, it wouldn't be very nice. Much better to have the extra bedroom space.

Urgh. I could literally cry. I'm so depressed that I can't find anything suitable. I like ensuite's.

Is there a garage you could build over by the stairs? Or build an extension?

Mumdiva99 · 18/03/2024 20:16

Do you need an ensuite? Or do you just like accessing a bathroom from your bedroom.?

What I'm getting at is are there lots of you in the house that you need 2 bathrooms. Or do you just like falling out of bed into the bathroom. If the latter can you find a property where you can add an extra door in the bathroom onto the bedroom.

startingoveragainagain · 18/03/2024 21:13

It's a chalet bungalow, so I can't really extend anywhere, it's been extended in all directions already. Which means it isn't the prettiest, but has the space I like (I don't need the space or the ensuite) but I'm used to them and like them.

I'm going to view it on Saturday but I'm not sue about it.

It looks really nice, I'm not sure why you need 2 bathrooms on the same floor?
If you're determined to get one in and don't need all the bedrooms, reconfigure beds 1 and 2.

Thanks all, I guess i'm just used to having an ensuite and don't really want to give that up. I'm going to view it as I'm getting desperate, but mentally I'm back to the drawing board.
