How often should you be contacting your solicitor?

4 weeks into the selling and buying process.

Don't want to badger them but don't want them to sit back either.

Do people ring them weekly, fortnightly to find out what's happening?

9 years since I did this and I've totally forgotten.

We buy and sell a lot. I email mine virtually every day but then I often am doing a lot of work myself and making decisions as I'm a surveyor so I understand the process. If you don't shout the loudest you will inevitably end up at the bottom of the pile. What's the latest update? Have mortgage valuations been done? Are searches back?

Searches are starting as I had an email to confirm I definitely want them doing. I'm a cash buyer (downsizing & don't need a mortgage once my house is sold) so I know they don't have to be done if you're a cash buyer.

Some enquiries have come through from my buyers solicitor- so things are moving.

Need to send some more paperwork to my solicitor but am going to deliver by hand as I have time tomorrow

We must be very lucky as we never have to chase our solicitor (we’re using him to buy and sell, and used him to buy previously). He does his job and gets in touch with the things he should.

I don’t get this philosophy of constantly bugging them!
