expatinscotland · 25/03/2008 13:23

Oliveoil · 25/03/2008 13:24

I read this too and thought oh diddums

bundle · 25/03/2008 13:25

Can you try the link again Tutter?

foofi · 25/03/2008 13:26

Take no notice of them - I'll sympathise if you like.

Oliveoil · 25/03/2008 13:26

one couple had £2M to spend and couldn't find anything

I couldn't sleep, I tell you

heart breaking

foofi · 25/03/2008 13:27

Just cos it ain't your price range, doesn't mean they like having nowhere to live.

Oliveoil · 25/03/2008 13:28

here

they have somewhere to live, they are renting iirc

foofi · 25/03/2008 13:28

Yes but renting isn't as nice as being in your own home that you can decorate the way you like etc.

expatinscotland · 25/03/2008 13:29

let me break out the violins.

pedilia · 25/03/2008 13:30

where are these people looking, in our local property magazine last week there were plenty of country properies for sale!

expatinscotland · 25/03/2008 13:30

yeah, so, it's a roof over your head, foofi.

and yes, i am a private renter in a rural area who will be served an eviction order by my landlord upon his return because it is the ONLY way we can get anywhere on the social housing list - we cannot afford to purchase our own home.

pedilia · 25/03/2008 13:31

in Cambridge btw

MoreSpamThanGlam · 25/03/2008 13:32

Keep looking Tutter - something will come up. just keep to your list of priorities and be prepared to compromise...oh and take no notice of jealous people

Oliveoil · 25/03/2008 13:34

ha, I am not jealous, just fail to see the need for sympathy for someone that can't buy a house for £2M

it is hardly doom and gloom territory is it?

and I heart Tutter so hopefully she will return to the thread

MoreSpamThanGlam · 25/03/2008 13:35

By the way - I had my home repossessed last year and I am in rented accomodation - but certainly dont tie myself up in knots over those less fortunate. Good luck to you Tutter if you are doing well I say - my position is down to me not you or anyone else.

I suppose i could blame the government instead of getting up off my fat arse and doing something about it, but moaning and bitching on here seems easier....

MoreSpamThanGlam · 25/03/2008 13:36

Sorry - MORE fortunate...

expatinscotland · 25/03/2008 13:37

i'm with you, OO.

i don't see how this is a depressing scenario.

no one has to live in the countryside.

allegrageller · 25/03/2008 13:37

could it be that T means it is depressing as it indicates the property market is overheated generally and the crash isn't happening in Tutter's area?

expatinscotland · 25/03/2008 13:38

why not just address posties personally, MoreSpam, rather than beating around the bush. it's not big or clever.

noddyholder · 25/03/2008 13:38

the papers are still trying to talk the market up when it is in reality dead in teh water but at that end of the market who knows? I do know that our local paper a few weeks ago said good quality family houses in good locations would always sell at a premium yet in the roads adjacent to ds's school where last year there were waiting lists for every property that came on now there are 100+ lovely houses for sale and it has been this way for months.

OrmIrian · 25/03/2008 13:38

Well personally I don't care. As long as they aren't looking to move into my house! That is, the house that I have fallen in love with and that I am going to have one day. If 22 people are trying to buy my biggish country house I will personally smack them on the nose

expatinscotland · 25/03/2008 13:38

Why would anyone wish a housing crash, though?

Those are never good because they always go hand and hand with a lot of other unpleasantness like high unemployment and inflation.
