Just remortgaged and need a payment holiday

ok, haul me over the coals for this…. I knew I was being made redundant and was coming to the end of our deal so remortgaged before it happened. To be fair, I was told there might be a further opportunity at work but it didn’t materialise. 2 months in and I’ve not found a job. I’m quietly optimistic though. I need to ask for a payment holiday though. Should I tell them I’ve been made redundant or say it’s for debt consolidation?

Have you checked that your provider allow payment holidays, ours doesn't (which we only found out when I was on maternity leave as the previous provider had allowed them!)

Yes they do. Although there are a few criteria that they have. Will find out today 😨

Redundancy is the sort of situation payment holidays are designed for, they’ll hear it as the reason behind needing a payment holiday every day. Debt consolidation makes it sound as though you’re poor at managing your finances, as your mortgage should always be top of the list for repayment.
