We're planning a conversion on my parents' farm and are at the beginning of the planning stage, and I really have no idea of costs etc. Can anyone tell me rough ideas of prices for:

underpinning
a reed bed
ground source heat pump
huge windows - the type that cover the whole gable end of the building

I know sizes etc will vary the price wildly, but to the nearest ,000 would be a good starting point!

Really will vary widely - the only way is to get quotes (more than 1!). To give you an example we had large french windows of the kind of size you describe priced at between 3,000 and 8,500!

Generally speaking typical costs per square foot are around 100-150, with the kitchen and bathrooms on top of that. Might be more if you need to do underpinning, I know nothing of that.

this book has info on costs.

That's very helpful thanks, we don't really want to be getting quotes yet as it's all still so up in the air, I just have absolutely no idea about costs!
