Anybody used the "rated people" website to find a tradeperson?

And if you did, how was it for you! We have recently moved into a house in Enfield, Middlesex and are having fun trying to find tradespeople so thought would give this a twirl. We posted looking for a painter and have had three painters contact us already wanting to come and quote. was wondering if anybody had any experience to share

I did and have considered suing the cowboy we got. I checked references but you have to be careful that they did exactly the same type of work. I'd trust it for painters though - how much damage can a painter do?

TBH good tradespeople shouldn't need to advertise or need to respond to "Painter Wanted"-type ads.

A good builder/painter/plumber is usually inundated with work through word of mouth recommendations.

Could you speak to neighbours or work colleagues and ask if they can recommend anyone?

Tks everybody, I love the fact that MN is always such a good source of information. We have tried the recommended route and have rung our usual painter who can fit us in next January!!! tbh I don't think we will now be using anyone from rated people having read these posts. Out of interest, were the people you use "rated"?
