Internal sliding doors - are they a pain?

Trying to make kitchen plan work and the door from the hall is causing a problem.

Kitchen designer suggests a slider but are they really annoying? It will be mostly open but I do need to close it sometimes. I imagine them being stiff and hard to slide but am I wrong?

I have a sliding door, not stiff at all. Very smooth in fact.
Why do you think it will be stiff?

I don't know @flipent it might be because of some old wardrobes we had with sliders. Encouraging that I might be wrong!

I've got double pocket doors (slide in to a cavity in the stud wall) between the lounge & playroom.
1 has never quite hung correctly, the other has never had any problems. Been in 10 years +.

I'd definitely have them again.
