we're in!! but wheres our money??

We moved house last Friday - everything went really smoothly - MIL kept us all organised. Right - now for the stupid question (and I will call solicitor about it when he's in) - after sale of previous house and paying off mortgage/buying new house/getting new mortgage we should have about £7k excess. Where is it? Does solicitor deal iwht- i.e. take their fees first and send us cheque?

and I know - I should have checked this earlier!

The solicitor will have paid all monies due (usually themselves first!) and then put any balance remaining into an account of your choosing using CHAPS. Need to ring them I think

solicitor will send it to you but ring to remind them as they can conveniently 'forget' and keep it in their account to get teh interest!

yup - looks like solicotor was happy for funds to sit with them - they will transfer into our bank account on Wed. Now we can afford that dining table!
