Anyone live in Chilworth, Guildford?

Hello,

DH and I and our two daughters are looking to move to Chilworth in Guildford as we have offered on a lovely 3 bed house just under our budget of 700,000. It's along New Road.

We have never been to the area before, though it looks pleasant. Just wanted to get opinions of the area and the New Road as we were a little hesitant it being on a main road. There is a convenience store nearby, though I can see there has been crime there and I am a little concerned as to what it is like around there at night.

Any opinions from anyone who have lived/living there at the moment?

It is quite rural. Crime is pretty low in Surrey but you do need to visit to make sure you are happy to live in such a small village. It is definitely not in Guildford!

I'm unclear as to whether you have seen the house and village in person? Chilworth is a typical Surrey village. Mixed housing, from the millions, down to social housing, council estates. It's in a lovely rural area, with lots of pubs, other villages, and open countryside. Shere, St Martha's, Newlands Corner, all very close. Traffic is terrible, but that's the norm for Guildford surrounds, and a rail line runs through the village, with a crossing, that you can be stuck at for ages. Where are you considering schooling??

Yes we have seen the house and really like it. our girls are 5 and 6 so ideally they would go to the Chilworth C Of E Infant School and Nursery further down the road. We have only driven around the area mainly sticking to the New Road. The nearest village is Shalford which looks nice, though doesn't look easy to park. Our main concern was being on the main road (New Road) and just wanted to get an idea of what it was like during the day and night. Doesn't look like too much crime there (mainly domestic) though it flagged up crime where the convenient store is, so wanted to check how bad it gets there, if gangs of kids hang around the store at night etc.
