Internal home alarm system (touch / movement sensor) - your experiences and thoughts?

Hi there everyone,

My house has a converted loft, 1st floor and ground floor. I really want to have the ground floor on motion sensor and touch sensor for doors. My children will likely roam around upstairs at night, so internal sensors won't be practical there, but I would like sensors on the windows for the 1st floor. I'll be in the loft.

Please can you tell me your experiences and any recommendations you might have? Also, anything i am missing and might not know?

Thank you!!

Simplisafe alarms. You can pick and choose the sensors you want and where you want them, super flexible, affordable, no wiring, self fit and you can subscribe to a monitoring service (which we do).

Thank you! I've checked them out!

We use the ring ecosystem. Have 6 cameras and then the alarm system covering a multitude of potential entry points. £8 a month and with assisted monitoring is in my view incredibly good value. The system works really well too and our two cats haven’t triggered it when bouncing around. It’s probably all much of a muchness in the lower end self install market, and simplisafe I’m sure is a good option too.

Thank you!

I'm wondering whether the 'higher end' is worth it?

I don't have anything I particularly care about in my home (no valuable jewellery, nothing expensive beyond a laptop which I'm sure everyone on the street has has) except my children, and te thing is I will be in the loft and. they will be on the 1st floor, just below me. So there's a certain paranoia about that....! They are 9, 7 and 5.
