Painting Hugh gloss kitchen units

Has anyone successfully painted high gloss kitchen units, I've looked online and on Facebook DIY groups and people are saying frenchic with no need for primer
Sugar soap and lightly sand and away you go.
Has anyone done it, how does it last?
Thanks

Frenchic chips.
They also remove any negative posts from their Facebook page. Mine isn’t even high gloss and I had to retouch bits before 12 months. A friend did hers and thought it was brilliant…until it started chipping. I think they all do really. DM used a different brand and hers has chipped and scratched too.

It can be done professionally . I wouldn’t do it, and I have painted thousands of things and walls in all sorts of ways. It is very difficult to prepare the surface so the paint adheres properly, and you will have damaged the surface so you can’t just wipe it off.

if you really hate the gloss, you would be better off putting sticky back plastic over it ( I’ve done this and it was okay, it also came off when I wanted a change).

Definitely don’t use Frenchic paint. My kitchen was a mixture of high gloss and wood and I had it professionally resprayed 2.5 years ago. It’s still in perfect condition but I wouldn’t have attempted it myself.

You'd be better off having it professionally wrapped. Or purchasing new doors.

High gloss kitchens just don't last long if painted. Might be fine for a year or so.

I think if you do do it yourself I would thoroughly clean, a light sand them several coats of Zinsser as a base followed by paint of choice.
