It's in the description - the Treetops Miniature Railway.

My dad built one for his grandchildren (with the help of a SiL who was similarly enthusiastic). Not quite the same, this one looks more like a toy than his did (insert something technical about gauges here). It was fabulous (and gave him something to do with the children).

ValBiro · 10/10/2023 19:25

That's so sweet @merryhouse !

This is a beautiful house, train track and all!

0ElectronBlue0 · 10/10/2023 19:26

I love trains and that house is fabulous.

housechoicechoices · 10/10/2023 19:30

Oh I missed that part (to be fair, I'm terrible for not reading the descriptions). I can't believe you can buy a house with a railway in the garden. And that pond is made for ducks.

Chap built one in his garden next to us when I was growing up.

This was no toy, the trains were real steam powered miniatures but we're large enough that the driver sat on a special carriage and were powerful enough to tow several similar carriages containing 2-3 passengers.
Went from one end of the garden to the other (200ft+) and there was a large loop at each end to allow the trains to change direction without the complication of a miniature turntable

evtheria · 10/10/2023 19:38

The track even goes over water! Amazing. Adding to my list of 'things to buy when I actually play the lottery, and win millions'.

You could probably recoup some of the costs just charging people to come and look at it, or bring their trains for a ride about.

SM4713 · 10/10/2023 19:39

Sorry, what was the point of the post other than there being a mini train? Am I missing some weird/wonderful/creepy other thing with the house?? 🤔

UsernamenotavailableBob · 10/10/2023 19:39

That's my dream house, it's beautiful!

housechoicechoices · 10/10/2023 19:43

@evtheria You'd never be short of friends if you knew some people with trains to take to your house! I didn't know this was something you could put in your garden. The DCs would have so much fun. I'm only 2 and a bit million short lol.

The station house in my old village retained the platforms and had a full size train carriage! It was a fabulous garden.

Dizzydeers · 10/10/2023 19:52

I wonder if you’d get visiting train enthusiasts.

FedUpMumof10YO · 10/10/2023 19:55

I love it!!

Madcats · 10/10/2023 19:57

Bizarrely I am aware of a few rail enthusiasts who built them round their gardens in the 80/90's . Oh the joys of retiring on a final salary pension scheme, having paid off a cheap mortgage.

Whispers that the house is likely due a rewiring, but go for it!

Yogaandchocolate · 10/10/2023 19:58

It’s great! I hope the new owners keep it.

housechoicechoices · 10/10/2023 19:58

Dizzydeers · 10/10/2023 19:52

I wonder if you’d get visiting train enthusiasts.

I'm now imagining them like the wandering bands of teachers in the later Terry Pratchett books but carrying* trains...

*Can you carry them? How heavy are they?

OP posts:
Callmesleepy · 10/10/2023 20:04

Yes, it's a tiny train track. They're really expensive so I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't come with any trains. From my experience the trains are about 30cm high. Must be a hell of a workshop!

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 10/10/2023 20:04

I love that!

housechoicechoices · 10/10/2023 20:05

@BubblyBubbler I took a look at that video and I was wondering if you were sure it was the same one, that pond is MASSIVE, loads bigger than the one in the pictures! Then the train went over the same bridge from the photo in the listing. If that land all comes with the house, that's a lot of land. If it was mine, I'd build lots of little stations with cool features like mini shops, police station, fire station and so on for the DCs to play in.

Callmesleepy · 10/10/2023 20:06

Cross posted and those trains are a lot bigger than I thought! Really want it now, best get a lottery ticket 😂

SantiagoSky · 10/10/2023 20:07

It looks very nice from the outside but the interior design is not for me...

evtheria · 10/10/2023 20:08

@housechoicechoices Oh my GOD a miniature village, if you happened to notice a midnight prowler in the grounds don't worry: it's me, playing.

Medlady · 10/10/2023 20:08

I’d have it. Give something for DH to do in retirement

housechoicechoices · 10/10/2023 20:09

@Callmesleepy me too! It's in the next village over from me so it would be perfect lol! 🤣

My grandad is in an engineering club and has built a model steam locomotive (not a train!). There’s been a (minor, very much joking, grandad is alive and well) tiff amongst the children and grandchildren about who inherits it - I reckon I’d be front runner if I could magic up the money to buy this place.
