50 Shadea of Beige...

Hi

Long time lurker first time poster!

Currently working on two adjoining rooms, master bedroom and dressing room, plaster is drying as I type so time to start the exciting part...

I want to go neutral warm tones and added a pic of my inspo. I'm looking for a pale beige/cream paint for the walls, I want to stay away from grey tones as have that downstairs, and don't want anything too yellow.

I had settled on dulux just walnut after buying several tester pots but I've since seen reviews online that are quite negative and people have said the real version of it comes out lilac/pink - which I don't want. Now considering dulux heritage flax seed or crown afternoon tea amongst a zillion others but I'm honestly colour blind to it all now 😵‍💫

So looking for any advice please, and any supporting pics would be great, before I loose my sanity!!!! Thanks 🖌

Little Greene do beautiful neutrals. Rolling Fog is a fawn colour comes in a shade palette from pale to dark, Slaked Lime dark is also lovely. It’s more expensive than Dulux or Crown but a joy to paint with and an almost velvety matt finish.

I agree, little greene colours are great. I’ve used Portland stone in a couple of rooms and very happy. Do try a tester pot of whatever you get though as even in the same house they look quite different.

Also you probably know that if you go for a fully beige look like that bedroom it’s really hard to pull off- you need to think about texture and layering, and avoid anything shiny! I’ve always preferred adding in a bit of colour with blinds/ bedding/ wallpaper etc.

Just came on to say little greene, we have also used a beautiful paint by Fenwick & Tilbrook called seal pup. They are not a major brand but have lovely colours and texture is similar to LG

I would definitely avoid just walnut if you want to go beige. We chose it when looking for a light grey.

Thanks that's really useful to see/know - and I love your fireplace, we have a big cast iron in our living room and we also went with very pale grey walls, beautiful!

I thought just walnut was more pinky than grey? I really like your room.

Mum198000 · 30/09/2023 12:40

I’m looking for a pale grey or greige in dulux so I can get the scrubbable walls. It’s for a hall that gets a lot of wear. I discarded just walnut for looking pinky beige but it really doesn’t look that way in your picture.

BlueMongoose · 30/09/2023 14:14

Sample pots are your friend. With Dulux, you can send for them if you use their website. I'd get the colour you think you want and one or two 'either side' of it. Colours look very different in different rooms with different light. Some creams can look yellow or green in rooms with North light, for example. You can put the sample paint on a big sheet of thick card and try it on different walls in the same room too.

Just walnut came out pinkish in my house too.

Flawless by Elle paints is a beautiful neutral.

Mum198000 · 30/09/2023 17:36

I’ve bought so many testers I could have bought a tin already! 😂

Mum198000 · 30/09/2023 17:38

I need tough paint so it can be scrubbed regularly.

We just did our bedroom warm beige - Dulux Gentle Fawn. It’s got a very slight pink undertone but definitely beige. It’s not at all finished but will be complemented with terracotta, forest green and sage green.

Alexahelp · 30/09/2023 21:04

Here you go - something like this

Little Greene intelligent matt is scrubbable.

MimiSunshine · 30/09/2023 21:20

Which way does the room face. I have Wickes soft cashmere in a west facing room. It’s a lovely neutral beige. Definitely not grey toned.

AnneLeze · 01/10/2023 14:45

So it's two adjoining rooms but the windows aren't facing the same way, the window in the master is south-west facing so gets a lot of light and the window in the dressing room is north-west.
