hifi · 05/03/2008 12:20

we live in a 3 floor town house. 2 beds with ensuites on top floor. living room, laundry room/toilet and another bedroom on middle floor and kitchen and study/ playroom on ground.
if you had 2 children would you

A. turn living room on middle floor to another bedroom, making it a 4 bed house.
turn study into small kitchen and kitchen, quite big , into a living room?

B. leave as is and squash in visitors?
would you think it more benificial having 4 beds and smaller living spaces?
thanks.

Depends - are you asking this to help you live in it or to try and sell it?

I'd do B

If both DC have their own room AND you have a playroom, then visitors can squish in.

I'd go for B, but have the extra bedroom you create (old living room) furnished so can be used as a study as well. Or if you want to stay have it doube up as a playroom as well as spare room, assuming your dcs are old enough for you to leave them upstairs while you get on with stuff downstairs.

Sirry I meant I'd go for A

Leave the living space as it is. For visitors, either move children into together temporarily, leaving one bedroom free for guests, or put sofa bed in study/playroom and keep that as a sort of guest room.

How often do you have visitors? Assuming it's not all the time, I would think you and your family need the living space and can make more informal arrangements for guests - that's what we do.

Go for the arrangement that suits most of the year. If it comes to re-selling, loads of bedrooms with poorer living space always looks odd.

eco, thats what i was thinking, would familys
prefer more bedrooms or spacious living. i personally prefer it as it is. we are prob going to move in next couple of years but are going to re do kitchen, thaught i would get some other opinions before we started.
