Velux Roof Windows Electric Pairing

AnneKipankitoo · 22/09/2023 11:09

We have an extension built . It has 3 Velux roof windows that are supposed to be paired to an electronic opening and closing switch.
Only one has ever worked.

My husband followed the instructions online and we still can’t get it to pair with the switch.

Has anyone else have this ?
Did you manage to fix it ?
How ?

Ring Velux. We had problems with fitting their electric blinds to ours, they were incredibly helpful, talked us through it until it worked. We'd just misunderstood part of the instructions about a little clip or something, as it turned out, IIRC.

Thank you @BlueMongoose

I did ring them and they were going to talk me through it but it’s too high.
My husband has a Friday afternoon off. However , they do too.

Oh that's a pain. I assume you have no laddders tall enough for you to reach it yourself (I know that one as I'm a foot shorter than DH). Could you borrow a taller ladder from a nice neighbour, or one of those platform ladder things?

AnneKipankitoo · 23/09/2023 12:02

It’s 4 metres high.
We do have a platform thing. Might have to get a new ladder. My husband can get on the roof though but the woman said you can only see and access things from the inside.

When we had to set up the opening, an later fit the blinds, it was from the inside too. I can see why you have to be careful- 4m is a long way up! I hope you can get it sorted out.

My husband has had another go at the Velux today and failed.

it sounds like he just needs a talk through by a velux person and it’s probably something very simple but easily overlooked ?

im going to suggest try the same question on the pistonheads home/ diy forum , there are some cleaver people on there and some of them are really into the tech side of things ( geeks ) …….I’m sure someone will help out.

AnneKipankitoo · 25/09/2023 18:53

Thank you @Diyextension

It’s been a bit stormy today. He was home early and could have done the call but he did not want to go on the roof. It is an odd shape roof and he thinks he can see and access all from the roof.

Yeah dont wanna end up like rod hull !!!!!!!!!!!

AnneKipankitoo · 09/10/2023 22:07

Good news . Husband took an afternoon off and managed to have some time to phone Velux and they talked him through it. It was something to do with displaced magnets that was the problem . They work now.
I was gaslighted by the electricians.

If you want something doing properly …….do it yourself.

AnneKipankitoo · 10/10/2023 07:53

Absolutely @Diyextension .

It was on the “snagging” list but the thought of them trying to fix it is too scary .Just thankful my husband finally got round to it and there was not enough rain to trigger the rain sensors.
