Jeez. I guess they get around all sorts of regulations because it is only available Mon to Friday.

IClaudine · 11/09/2023 20:00

Oh, late Sunday to Friday afternoons.

Tasha1989 · 11/09/2023 20:03

Aye but it’s got a PS4 and knives and forks included! Luxury!

berksandbeyond · 11/09/2023 20:05

Grabby bastards. Bet they got it built for WFH then got called back into the office. They want to be careful they don’t get a paedo, sitting watching their kids play in the garden all summer 😫

IClaudine · 11/09/2023 20:05

Knives and forks to eat your pot noodle with, as no cooking facilities.

Ridiculous that this is allowed.

Strawberryfieldsforeverrr · 11/09/2023 20:06

Is it a swanky arra or something? I assumed it would be London but it looks to be miles away.

EggInANest · 11/09/2023 20:06

Tbf it’s like an AirBnB and they are often £50 a night (which this works out at).

If I was their stated target market I would prefer this to a Travelodge or B&B, and it’s cheaper than a hotel.

Most air bnbs have kitchen sinks and something to cook on.

IClaudine · 11/09/2023 20:11

It's Hitchin, which I don't think is anything special. I don't think is an AirBnB type thing, they are looking to let it to someone who who works away from home during the week.

It's near Luton.

stayathomer · 11/09/2023 20:15

There was a guy on the radio that sells mobile homes, says he can’t keep up with demand for them from young couples. The place you have above is lovely but depths of winter how can it be okay to live in. Horrendous times we’re in!

Hobbes8 · 11/09/2023 20:25

It’s always nice to have a good view of the toilet from your sofa.

I guess it might suit someone working for an airline out of Luton airport…but they don’t tend to fit neatly into M-F working patterns

Reckon you're spot on. Grabby indeed.

They ask for DBS check but I'm sure a lot of dodgy men show up 'clean'.
If I was them I'd prefer a woman.

KievLoverTwo · 11/09/2023 20:46

I am really confused at their target audience. As pp said, Luton folk don’t tend to work M to F. A building contractor wants to be able to get a fry up in their accommodation. A London commuter would have to pay 4.7k for a season ticket plus 11.7k a year in rent.

Who is this mythical lodger?

Is Luton undergoing a massive expansion that I am not aware of?

SophiaElise · 11/09/2023 20:46

I spent a good few minutes looking for the kitchen...

It's near Luton.

Hitchin is nice (despite its eight mile proximity to Luton).

The area where the shed is is a council estate, so houses are cheaper than the town average, but people who live there say they love it. I don’t know if any of them (or anyone else) will love it enough to pay £1k a month to live in a shed though…

I'd wonder about how warm it would be in the winter. At least though you couldn't have the kids running riot in the garden then ..

Yes I think you’re right @berksandbeyond. Greedy bastards. I hope no one wants it.

Totally grabby. The bottom of the wall between the bedroom and the bathroom looks a bit like it is damp.

terriblyangryattimes · 11/09/2023 20:56

But how much is a regular studio or one bedroom flat in the same area? It cannot be much less than this, surely? And you can then use it at weekends, cook, not have a family gawping at you through the sliding doors OR two noisy kids playing right outside as you're trying to chill out after work.

GrandHighPoohbah · 11/09/2023 20:58

I thought you had to get planning permission for garden rooms like that to have sleeping accommodation in? They're only intended for daytime use.

terriblyangryattimes · 11/09/2023 21:00

In fact for less money you get your own place. They're nuts.

Look at this shed for rent

The shed is actually more than a few one bedroom flats currently listed, including this one: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/138281180#/?channel=RES_LET, which is on a nice road.

There are a few others cheaper, then some £100 or so more a month. Hopefully no one wants the shed!
