Estate lying my house is sold ??!

So bit of a weird one we sstc to ftb , they pulled out 1 month later the director of the estate agency said he found us a new buyer we were happy with price etc so agreed on July 1st
after a couple of weeks I hadnt heard anything so I emailed him and checked if need to do anything - he said no all with the solicitors. I didn’t get a copy of the sales memo this time.
last week our house showed as back on the market on Rightmove !?? (We live abroad house is vacant) so I contacted and asked him has it fallen through again … he said not that he was aware but they were having a system update he would get back to me.
He replied today saying he’s waiting for an update from the buyer re mortgage.
Something just didn’t feel right so I emailed my solicitor saying is there any update with the new buyer and she replied saying she hadn’t heard about a new buyer and no sales memo from our agents !??
why is this it’s so weird but what would be the benefit of pretending they have sold our house !? I’m so confused and not sure what to do

Go back to your estate agent and copy in your solicitor. Ask for a copy of the sales memo, details of the buyer and their situation and to confirm he’s taking the house off Rightmove.
Go from there.

I would do exactly as @dreamersdown says.

However, I would also ring them pretending to be an interested buyer. See what they say.

@dreamersdown yes I’ll do that on Monday - it did show was sttc and this week it’s back on as available ! I just don’t understand what they have to gain from lying about it

They only do SSTC, if they get a mortgage in principle. So it could be that it’s back on the market until the new buyer can provide one, this can take a couple of weeks.

@Whattodowithit88 ah ok I didn’t realise that , actually it showed as under offer not sttc I didn’t even realise what the diff was ! Then went from under off to back on market … just odd he didn’t explain it that way and the solicitors don’t even know we have a new buyer 3 weeks in !
