Can you fall back in love with a house?

If you found you were a bit sick of your house, how did you begin to love it again?
It feels small and dated currently, I've no huge budget to make massive changes, but would a lick of paint help, do you think?
I miss having a fun and quirky home, it currently feels generic and sterlie.

If it is just cosmetics then there are plenty of options - paint, stick-on tiles, stamp-on tiles even (stencils). Kitchen cabinets can be wrapped in vinyl and have new door knobs to change the look. Some people paint over tiles or make walls "panelling" with plastic mouldings. If it is something structural like dark rooms or a small galley kitchen then once you grow to hate it then I guess that's it, there's no way back.

Yep, I didn't like my old house but when COVID hit I had time to properly do it. Every room had a bit of a makeover. Decluttered and got rid of it will do furniture and bought new. Finally did loads of little DIY jobs. Looked at Instagram and read a few articles on interior design - nothing major but for example rugs - easy to get them wrong but following interior design advice got it spot on. Properly loved every room by the time I'd finished.

Luckily it's mostly cosmetic! Thank you both for replying, I'm going to get planning and saving!

Definitely yes. I’d recommend a nice holiday. I always find I comeback. Really quite grateful for having a lovely home. You miss it.

I’d recommend a nice holiday.
I'd recommend camping instead... I'm always desperate to come back home 😂
