Need to re-do the seal on our conservatory

Hi all,

Bought a house with an old conservatory and the seal all around the bottom of the windows seems to need replacing. Lots of damp and water came in over winter.

Can anyone point me to an easy to use product that I can do this with please? I have zero experience but really want to just sort it ourselves . DH keeps saying he'll look into it and forgetting but I'm sure I could do it.

@warmmfeet you need to identify why it is leaking first. If it is replacing the sealant there are lots of very useful videos on YouTube for general house DIY, I would highly recommend Charlie DIYte and Gosforth Handyman for sealant application (and removal by Gosforth handyman) videos. Both of them have loads of helpful how to content, also Ultimate Handyman, Pouse around the House, How2D2, and Proper DIY. As someone who does the sealing in this house and a lot of DIY projects like installing a bathroom those videos will give you skills.

One thing I always recommend is if there is somewhere you can test your skills ie a garage or a part of a room that is hidden by furniture, old furniture etc then start there. Give yourself loads of time and if the sealant doesn't look right, scrape it out and apply it again. No one comes out of the womb with a sealant gun in their hand Grin we all learn. The use of a sealant tool as shown by Charlie is essential to a great finish. Do a small area first until you get the hang of it. And yes you can do it, good luck.
