How quickly after searches did you exchange?

We are at survey and searches stage of a 3 house chain. I know each is different, how long did it take to exchange from this point for you? We are told we are 50% on both our sale and purchase.

Less than 2 months on my current purchase which was chain free. It took 5 months when we sold due to leasehold issues with my buyer’s sale.

Searches and survey are step one I’ve always thought? Happened in the first 1-2 weeks each time I’ve bought/sold. It’s taken anywhere from 4 weeks to 7 months after that to exchange/move.

There’s no particular link between when searches are done and when exchange takes place. Might be 2 weeks, could be 3 months.

I exchanged this week after just 9 weeks start to finish. I have never had a sale/purchase go through so quick or so smooth. There was a delay with land reg searches too and I got them all back last week in June. Seller and I were shit hot on getting enquiries back and both our Solicitors were the same but I had to do very little chasing. My buyer was a month ahead of me as it took me a month to find my new place and it all tied in at the same time.
