How much did your garden landscaping cost?

Hi,

Just curious how much everyone's garden cost?

I'm looking to get some porcelain paving laid with stone chippings as well as replacing a fence and gate. Garden is around 35m2 to 40m2.

Is £4000 a realistic budget?

Whereabouts are you? Our fence quote was the best part of £3k so I'm saying it's not enough, but others in your area might be able to be more specific (I'm south east, commutable to London).

It really depends where you live and the quality of the fencing you want to buy. Fencing is surprisingly pricey at the moment, so I agree with the PP that £4k might not cover it.

DarkSignOfTheMoon · 09/06/2023 13:42

I also think £4k might not be enough. If it's to include the fencing itself and the tiles, as well as labour... my best guess would be getting on for 8-10k

Sorry OP.

Ours has finished today in the south west. We have 100m2 garden, had 40m of sandstone patio, leveling, 20m of raised beds, new turf and a garage door.

Came to just under 9k.

I think fences will be alot!

AnIdiotSandwich · 09/06/2023 14:14

I paid about £6000 but I felt this was reasonable as there was tons and tons of earth to be removed and levelled, drainage put in, retaining walls put in and a new patio. I thought it was fairly cheap. The guy did go to prison the Monday after he finished up but I can't fault the job he did 😂

Same size garden. Goods alone for patio slabs we wanted and turf, top soil etc just over 3k. Labour was 2.5, 2 men team for a week.

I'm based in the South West so probably similar prices!

No worries! I think I was being a bit optimistic with £4k, didn't think fencing would cost so much!

Your comment made me chuckle 😂Glad he finished the job before going in! I haven't factored in the removal of earth and levelling so yep, £4k won't be anywhere near enough 😓

My paving, fencing and raised beds with no plants was around £8 000.

YoDood · 09/06/2023 20:37

Groundworks for dual level patio, porcelain paving, raised beds x3, cedar fence and planting - around £40k.

NatureNurture85 · 09/06/2023 20:39

@AnIdiotSandwich ours also went to prison a couple of weeks after finishing our job!!

AnIdiotSandwich · 09/06/2023 20:50

@NatureNurture85 haha these landscapers are rogues by the sounds of it 😂 crikey

SherlocksDeerstalker · 09/06/2023 20:56

An absolute flipping fortune. Just finished. Took 6 months but we have a weird shaped, dual level garden with a lot of porcelain patio, retaining walls all replaced… thousands. We did all the hardscaping professionally and are now slowly doing turfing, planting etc ourselves on the cheap.

gotmychristmasmiracle · 09/06/2023 21:01

Maybe look at double or tripling budget, it's crazy prices atm. Many landscapers will now be fully booked for summer now. We've just done ours, so expensive 😮‍💨

SBAM · 09/06/2023 21:08

We’ve just had a quote for a length of garden to be fenced, maybe 20m of fence? About 10 6ft panels, it needs concrete posts and gravel boards. That’s £1500. (Essex, London commuter area).

We’ve recently had some paving done in porcelain tiles. The materials cost was £1000 I think for the tiles, the edging blocks, plus concrete blocks for the foundation and the sand, concrete etc.

mondaytosunday · 09/06/2023 22:47

Not really. My garden is 5m by 15, and it's the labour that costs. Garden designer thought £7k, but the fence and concrete base for the tiling cost about £3k on top of that. I didn't touch the flagstone patio, but replaced she'd, one side of the fence, put a raised tile seating area with pergola. Raised beds either side and returfed the grass. Cost about £10k. Furniture was another £1200. Looks great though.
