How long from the searches for exchange?

We are in the process of buying/selling. We had a mortgage application in and after 2 months of back and forth with them wanting this document and that they turned us down. We immediately applied for another one last week and had our offer on Thursday. We've had the mortgage deed from the solicitor and they're going to carry out the searches. How long are we looking at from the searches being started and getting a completion date? Our house is 100% not packed and we're wondering when to start

Seems a bit premature to be thinking of packing, but you haven't put a lot of detail in your post.

Have you booked a survey on the property you have offered on?

Have your buyers had a survey done on your house? Have they given you an idea of when they are in a position to exchange?

Are you vendors buying another property? Where are they with this?

We just had to withdraw from a purchase as the vendors hadn't found anywhere and we weren't prepared to wait indefinitely.

Sorry I didn't include this. We're buying next door and they're buying ours so no chain and no hurry really other than we're desperate for more space. Surveys we're both just getting the cheapest I think

We had surveys done and completed the second week of March
All being well we get the keys the second week of July.

We accepted an offer for our house in November and had our offer accepted on the one we are buying. Everything stopped over Xmas obviously but our mortgage offer was made end of January and all the searches had been done by early February. We are STILL waiting for Exchange. I am beyond fed up.

We have moved several times before and it has never taken this long. Solicitors thought we were going to Complete yesterday but couldn't get a definite from anyone else in the chain so we cancelled that on Wednesday. I don't know if he is now anticipating Exchange and Completion on same day (I know we've done that before). Never moving again.
