ikea sink unit

We are getting a new kitchen summer and planning it at the moment.
Only problem is the sink we want needs to have a 1000mm unit and they only seem to do 800mm units.

Has anyone come across this problem before? We were wondering if you could use 2 500mm units together or else get another unit from somewhere else and just sue the Ikea doors with it???

any ideas?

I had the same problem - but my sink is at the end of a run of units in a peninsula so I just got the 800mm unit and the draining board overhangs the unit at the end. I did also consider using a small wine rack type unit they do in order to infill.

It depends how much space the actual sink bowls need - as grapefruit says you may find the whole sink measures 1000cm but the bit that needs to go inside the units is smaller. IYSWIM. If the sink is IKEAs then they'll have a unit for it i should think...

We got a B&Q unit which is 1000mm and attached Ikea doors - the unit was slightly different height so fitter had to make adjustments but you'd never know looking at it. Lots of grumbling from him but worth it for us.

lalalonglegs was that the only unit you used from B&Q. I just ask as m dh likes the colour of their units better but we like the Ikea oak doors but they only have white units inside so wondered if it was possible to fit them together? Was the unit smaller or taller than the Ikea door?

think have solved the problem with Ikea unit and found a double sink which the maunfacturer have assured me will fit into a 800 unit.

That was the only unit we used - it was slightly taller than an Ikea door so had to have 10 or 15mm taken off top. Never noticed the units being a different colour - must check when I am down in the kitchen but just "supervising" bedtime at moment
