Can I live without one?

We 'made' a kitchen out of freestanding furniture - it looks lovely and is very functional. It cost £2k and will last years because it is solid wood.

The refurb money is now spent with nothing left over. I think I can live without a cooker hood but FiL and dh think we need one.

In previous houses we've had Cooker hoods which I didn't use because I don't like the noise of thee fan.

Putting this to MN for opinions!

What a beautiful kitchen.

That's really lovely and just so warm and inviting - love it!

Love your kitchen!

We have an extractor but don't really use it, we just open the back door and window.

I love your kitchen! I'd like to do that but DH won't go for it, he likes shiny surfaces.

Lovely kitchen. Great Ercol find. My kitchen too is mainly freestanding and looks similar in size to yours. My cooker is positioned where yours is and my sink is under the window. I do have a cooker hood, a visor type one which vents outside, and which you can buy for less than £100.

Your kitchen looks fabulous

Isn’t a cooker hood good if you cook with gas because you’re burning a fossil
fuel?

We definitely needed the extractor on when we had a gas cooker as it produced so much moisture but we have electric now and don't have that problem, I was surprised there was so much difference.

This has really inspired me and the “how much did your kitchen cost’ thread really scared me so have just bought a wooden kitchen off marketplace to be delivered next month. Please keep your fingers crossed they can get some of the granite worktop out intact.
