Is there such thing as a comfortable sofa bed?!

We want a hybrid guest room/family room, and I'm struggling to find a sofa bed that looks reasonably comfortable. They all seem to have thin, awful mattresses. Ideally we'd like to see it before we buy. Any recommendations?

We have one that looks like a Cocoon sofa bed but it came from a local independent shop and is unbranded. It is very comfortable as a bed. At first if was too hard as a sofa but it has slightly softened and is now fine. We were going to get a Cocoon but they are very expensive and you can only try them out in London. If you’re in Edinburgh I can recommend the shop we got ours from (but brace yourself for quite eccentric service).

Well talk about the right place at the right time 😁

I’ve PM’d you to ask for the name of the shop.

I’ve replied but I think there is no harm in saying the shop is called Sleep and it’s on Leith Walk. They don’t have a website or anything, which if you have been there won’t surprise you!

Darlings of Chelsea. Worst sofa I have ever bought. I am 55 and have probably bought 30 plus sofas. Cheap fabric, terrible overpriced sofas. Shocking customer service. I purchased my sofa in June last year, have spoken to them numerous times to get my issues resolved. No resolution. Apparently I need to contact the sofa bed ombusman. Who knew that such an organisation existed. I do now. Google reviews of their sofas before you buy one. You’re welcome 🙄.

A hack for this that i discovered recently is to buy a good, thick memory foam mattress topper and use it on top of whatever mattress came with your pull-out bed. Total game changer
