Hi, we're living in a shed (2 bed cottage)in Twickenham and are thinking of moving further out to get more for our money. We don't really know where to start but I'm looking for an area with good primary schools (4, 2 and baby on the way in May) and a bit of life within walking distance. DH wants the big house, garden and dog but I'm not sure we're going to find what we both want. Any ideas?

Depends on price range - where I live (Bracknell) is excellent - good schools (state, church and private) all around and the house prices are excellent. THe town centre is being done up starting this year (they have started parts) which will be better than Reading town centre, and there are plenty of rural areas - esp. if you go towards Wokingham etc. DH is always working this side of London (staines/heathrow etc.) and in a good day he'll be back in 25 mins. Anything between here and Staines though I think might be expensive/not that rural eg. Englefield Green, Ascot etc. Hope that helps!
