Hi all, we have multiple cracks in our dining room ceiling, the only thing above this is our spare bedroom which is rarely used but houses a lot of crap. The biggest one is this photo, should we be concerned or is it just the paint/plaster?

House was built in 1905 if useful!

It might not be a leak at all. Plaster will not last in tact forever.

A water mark has appeared and is getting worse.

Water can track quite a way before appearing as a stain on ceilings/walls.
You can't avoid it, you need to look under the floorboards upstairs.

Yep, defo going to get a second opinion, quite frustrated that the plumber seemed uninterested in investigating further.

Any more than a visual check and a guess is going to cost money.

@C4tastrophe more than happy with that! When I spoke to the last plumber on the phone we discussed the investigation aspect but he decided not to bother on the day.

No matter, we’ll get to the bottom of it!
