i am desperate to move > thats another story..
I am single parent
i get 10.00 a week hb at the moment...as i work 24 hours

if i go into private renting it will be way more expensive... could they refuse to pay me the HB which will obviously be more then i get now?
will they say i deliberately moved etc..
and refuse to pay it?

thankyou

Not sure tbh.

Have you tried putting different amounts in on entitledto.com ? they are normally pretty accurate for me.

MarsLady · 08/02/2008 16:25

I don't think so. Why not call and ask? You don't have to give your name if that worries you. Perhaps you could ask the CAB?

ShakeysGirl · 08/02/2008 16:26

I am a private tenant and a single parent. I am on income support and housing benefit pay a percentage of my rent. They pay £400 of £490 so i pay the difference.

chocolatespiders · 08/02/2008 16:44

i have put it into entitled to and it says they will pay £400.00 of 750.00 rent....

my rent atm is £350.00

i am just worried they will say i should have stayed where i am as it is cheaper rent..

i dont think they can say that..

they will just pay a percentage as Shakeys said, and it will be up to you to make up the difference IYSWIM

chocolatespiders · 09/02/2008 09:51

how are you allgonebellyup?

think i will bite the bullet and do it,,maybe do a pretennancy thing first?

i am so desperate to move....

i know it is a risk to move from HA house but i think it will be worth it.. there is always private rent in my area...

I hate being in my house and out in the garden, so i think my wellbeing is more important atm...

I work in housing but not on benefits. I think but I'm not certain that they would have to assess the property you want to move into first. If you just move and then tell them they can stop your benefit altogether.

And don't forget that if it's private rented you are losing a lot of security. If the private landlord gives you notice there is not a lot you can do. You will have moved out of your HA home voluntarily so you won't have a leg to stand on. I would say don't go private unless you are comfortable with all of that and confident that you can pay 100% of the rent. Lots of private landlords won't accept HB payments anyway.

chocolatespiders · 09/02/2008 15:08

maybe i would be better off staying here... untill a keyworker rented comes up then?
i was going to go into private rented until one came up just to get me out of here...

i am sick of trying to fill the weekends so we spend as little time as possible at home...

what about long term renting is that different?
