Storing utensils in pan drawers.

Nearly there with my new kitchen plan. I have two sets of pan drawers, initially I had cutlery inserts in both, one for cutlery, one for utensils, but know I'm thinking my utensils will be too big to fit in. So wondering how everybody else organises theirs.

We have one pan drawer just for utensils - with an insert so that it has two levels. Cutlery is in a separate drawer.

I think of pan drawers as deeper than cutlery drawers, so i may be misunderstanding. I have three drawers. One for cutlery, with the segmented storage thing for cutlery in it. It has a long section to the side where I store the big chopping knives. Another drawer is for the cooking utensils. A 3rd drawer is for the lesser used but still necessary things like the hand mixers, rolling pin, measuring cups, tea strainers, wine bottle stoppers, parmesan grater.

I have two sets of drawers so one cutlery drawer for cutlery and the other cutlery drawer for utensils ( what else would I use it for?) wouldn't it be a waste of space to use a deep drawer for utensils? Except now I think it wouldn't be derp enough.

I have two two sets of pan drawers directly under the hob. The hob is centred over them. One top drawer is for utensils- spatulas, wooden spoons, ladle, potato masher, etc. The other is for jars of spices, seasoning, stock cubes. The jars are laid flat with labels face up so are a doddle to use. The deeper drawers below are for pots and pans.

On the other side of the kitchen (it's a narrow galley kitchen) are three more sets of drawers, each a metre wide. In those top drawers are
1). cutlery and baking bits and bobs (pastry brush, measuring spoons, scissors, sharp knives, tin opener etc).
2). Plates, cereal bowls, heat mats, over gloves.
3). Devoted to the odds and sods like biros, pencils, freezer clips, elastic bands, spare batteries.
For drawers 2 and 3, we bought several cheap white cutlery inserts from Ikea and cut them to fit our drawers with a Stanley knife. Invaluable, especially for drawer 3.

Oven gloves, not over gloves!

Just wanted to add, cutlery inserts slightly reduce the depth of an already shallow drawer so would be a pain in the utensils drawer for bigger items like the ladle, tongs and masher. We have an insert in part of that drawer for the small items. The rest sit directly on the floor of the drawer.

I was thinking the same so I've removed one of the cutlery inserts and will look at bamboo dividers instead.

I love my utensils drawer. It came with a big cutlery tray but I found that to waste space so I bought some dividers from Amazon instead. I've separated it into wooden utensils/other utensils/knives. I have a separate cutlery drawer. I've changed my user name to show you photos!
