Costing to replace gas fire and surround with new?

I don’t like our fireplace/mantelpiece and surround. Gas fire is ok,just standard.

I would like to replace it but have no idea how much this would cost… I know it depends what you have of course. Could he £500 could be £2k!

Has anyone updated theirs and how much did it cost roughly please?

we are in a 1930’s property.

We had a gas fire removed and a gas stove fitted , the fireplace was rebricked floor to ceiling and plastered and that cost just over 2k about 5 yrs ago so probably double that nowadays .

Argh, pricey then!
