I want something a little cheaper but as nice. Does it exist?

There are lists of brands out there. I was considering LVT and got about 30 samples from different companies. I couldn’t find one that didn’t look plasticy - so I am going for tile instead.

I have PolyFlor Camaro which was recommended as similar quality but cheaper when I was looking. The dark slate one - agree some of the lighter ones with a shimmer were quite plasticky. 18 months in and looks as good as the day it was installed

I’d say saving money is as much down to the installation time as the actual flooring - choose a standard pattern using one size of large ish tile. Don’t for the love of god go down the herringbone route.
Whether the floor underneath needs any preparation will make a difference too.

It's for the living room so don't want tile. We had it in previous property (not installed by us) & it looked good.

@BeastOfBODMAS i will check that out thanks

@Stripedbag101 is herringbone a nightmare to fit?

We're having herringbone karndean click type flooring it's not to badly priced 😬 still not cheap especially if you have herringbone as it takes longer to fit therefore costs more.

We're getting Amtico to quote for herringbone for one room but also straight lay like planks so we can compare. Most of the space will be straight lay so interested to see how the herringbone compares for just that space. We are also going down a level to the cheaper Amtico (spacia) for the bathroom as it won't get as much wear.
