Is white gloss outdated.

I have always preferred white gloss on all my woodwork like door frames and skirting boards etc.
But while surfing the web I have seen lots of people doing trim in different colour or the same colour of the wall. Is it classed as outdated.

Didn't know satinwood instead of gloss for skirting was now the rage.

Do the gloss!! My painter said that gloss is old fashioned and talked me into eggshell same colour as wall instead. It’s shit! You can’t wipe it clean. So now I have stained doors and skirting and the whole thing needs redoing aaaaaaaagh

White os fine, but gloss definitely outdated!

I’ve never heard such rubbish about eggshell! It’s tough. It’s water based. It doesn’t yellow. It’s easy to use. It’s very easy to clean! Just wipe it down. Just buy a decent one! I think posters must have used some old tat a builder had stored for decades. Spend the money and you get the finish. Yes, light does bounce off white! It’s the nature of white paint!

I love white trims. I prefer satinwood but gloss is just as nice.

The coloured trims will date far quicker. But the important thing is you have what you like in your home.

I really do feel sorry for people that feel the need to consider current 'fashion trends' when decorating their house.

@OhSunnyMorning
Eggshell isn’t a trend! It’s been around for decades. Water based paints are just better and high quality paints do a better job. It’s not fashion it’s just sensible for a better finish.

Gloss has been out of date for at least 20 years!
