Fugenstone quartz v silestone

Had anyone gone for fugenstone over silestone? I’m looking at silestone calacatta gold and fugenstone calacatta oro for kitchen worktops. The difference in price is immense and I’m erring towards the fugenstone as heading towards the end of a costly build and very conscious of budget. I know silestone is meant to be a premium but other than where it is made I’m struggling to see a difference. I do want something lasting and durable though. Any thoughts gratefully received.

Hi I am in the exact same predicament.. not sure if there is any real realisable difference...

Glad it’s not just me. Financially I think it’s got to be the fugenstone. I can’t justify substantially more at this point. Plus my sample of fugenstone really is lovely, exactly how I wanted it to look.

Hi guys, did you end up buying the fugenstone? I am currently looking at this option

Hello. Yes I did. It looks absolutely beautiful, the marbling effect is stunning, love the colours. It did stain a little at first and I was worried about it. However the installation company advised using the “pink stuff” in tub form and it has removed them. I think naively I thought that quartz would be quite bomb proof so was surprised at staining especially when I was cleaning so carefully and regularly. I’m keeping an eye on it as the company said fugenstone are good and will come out.
Apparently silestone put their prices up substantially at the beginning of this month too so if I was in the choosing stage now that would very much influence the decision!

Apparently silestone does use slightly more expensive materials and is from Italy as opposed to fugenstone which is from Asia. The company I bought from advised that fugenstone is extremely popular though and the price difference is substantial but they are good quality. The company said there are many cheaper quartz suppliers they wouldn’t touch with a barge pole as the product is poor quality.

Also meant to add that with the samples I actually preferred the colours and detail in the fugenstone calacatta oro over the silestone too, so it would be down to preference as well.

There is no difference in silestone and FugenStone apart from price and the brand that silestone has built up the extra money you pay to silestone is only for the brand name. But unless people walk in your kitchen and look in your cupboards to see underneath for the print of the brand then no one would know the difference! I’m FugenStone all the way. As I work with it all the time!

Did the stains come off your fugenstone worktop? Do you know what caused it? How is it almost two years later? Will it stian again if you spill cooking oils, sauces, wine etc?
