We have wenge floor all over and it is beautiful. Goes great with our whitish walls & white leather sofa.

Recently had rally dark floorboards laid throughout the house and love it, love it, love it, should have done it years ago!

My PIL's have just had a really dark oak floor laid and it does look lovely but they have very dark furniture too so its a bit much tbh.

I think if you have good sized rooms then it looks nice.

Naaah, we had it and got rid of it, our house was too small for it and it looked gloomy.

PippiCalzelunghe · 25/01/2008 17:11

yes room are large and walls are going to be all white. no dark furniture either.

I have a dark walnut floor in my bedroom and its gorgeous. The rest of the room is burgundy though so it doesn't look dark, just really warm!

We've got dark stained floorboards in our living room, kind of like a dark oak colour. I'm pretty sure they are just pine floorboards but they are in great nick and look lovely with the dark stain.

I've grown to hate that 80's pale orangey pine look (having had it going on in many houses I've lived in) so it's a really nice change, looks a bit more 'classy' and goes with everything we've had in there so far.

forgot to say they have a varnish on them - not too glossy but makes them a dream to clean as well.

We pulled up our carpet a few years ago & now we have the original 1960s dark wood block floor, which I really like. The rest of the family want to get new carpets, but I am refusing until DD either leaves home or stops dyeing her hair. We have pale cream walls (warmer than magnolia) & cream & rust curtains.

We have dark oak and I really like it. Easy to clean, warm enough, I think it's great.

ZippiBabes · 03/02/2008 09:03

you can still do the old links..i do but of course the old skills aren't being passed on to the younger generation and if you don't use them you lose them

suzywong · 03/02/2008 09:05

WideWebWitch · 03/02/2008 09:38
