Feel like I'm bothering my solicitor

Currently selling my house, chain of 3, no mortgages involved. Searches were back around 6 weeks ago. Have completed all paperwork but have not had any queries back yet (or they have and haven't told me!).

My buyer contacted me and suggested a completion date (they've told their solicitors), and asked me to let mine know as long as I agreed.

I emailed my solicitor last week just to let them know that I was happy with the w/c xx for completion and all parties agreed (including my vendor) so could they let both buyer and vendor's solicitors know that I'm in agreement.

She came back to me and said that it was far too early to be thinking about exchange and completion dates. I've not sold a house before but I was under the impression that some kind of date would need to be suggested as something to work towards? Her email made me feel like I was hassling her and getting way ahead of myself.

Can anyone advise if this is what usually happens as I haven't been through it before! Thank you

I should add that my parents are also going through the conveyancing process using the same solicitors, who today wrote to them asking my parents of a possible completion date (even though the house they are purchasing is currently going through probate!).

Oh sod that! You're paying them to do a job! I was nagging my solicitor several times a day - be a nuisance! Don't be apologetic for asking for updates if they're not on the case.

My vendor said she sent back her paperwork including fixtures and fittings just over a month ago and I've still had nothing! It's hard to know what's typical and what's not.
