Show me your 1930s semi windows?

We move soon and I would like to replace the old UPVC windows, it’s a 1930s semi but with no bay windows - the current windows look odd but I can’t figure out why and which windows would look better?!

Would love to see yours if you’ve replaced recently and an idea of cost?

Thanks!

We recently replaced some old UPVC patio doors that had gone brittle with a slimmer aluminium frame and had sliding doors by taking out the ‘nibs’. If you have ‘nibs’ (ledges underneath the windows either side of the doors) then I can heartily recommend that in making a huge improvement. This was from our living room into the garden. Before and after attached..

The old UPVC windows tried to emulate the even older Crittal windows by having these naff plastic bars inside them. I still have these at the front but can’t justify replacing them at the moment.

i also took out the 1980s dado and reinstalled the picture rail which matches up with the door height and looks fab IMO.
